The Catalunya Neutral Internet Exchange Point (CATNIX) offers a free speed test to check the quality of internet connection in an easy way for the users. The tool shows up the upload and download speeds in megabits per second (Mbps) and the latency in milliseconds (ms). Speed connection, though, will depend on factors external to the own connection (such as firewall, spyware, antivirus...), and other components that make up the network.
One of the advantages of this test is its independence of the operator that provides the internet connection, as well as its location at the Neutral Point, which gives a minimal latency. The tool also has a user friendly and fast interface.
The software is developed by Ookla, a North American company founded in 2006 and leader in broadband testing and web-based network diagnostic applications.
