CSUC will decide on the request for access, rectification, cancellation and opposition within a maximum period of one month from the reception of the request. If CSUC does not have the applicant’s data, it will also be communicated within the same period.

What are ARCO rights?

According to the Catalan Data Protection Authority, control over personal data is exercised through ARCO rights (for initial access, rectification, cancellation and opposition), which give the person the power to protect this information and to exercise effective control.

Any person can request access to his or her data and obtain free information on whether these personal data are processed, for which purposes and specific uses, where have they been extracted from, whether they have been communicated or are intended to be communicated and to whom.

You may also rectify your personal information if it is erroneous or incomplete. In addition, you may request your cancellation, that is to say, its suppression in case of inadequate, excessive or unnecessary, or when they have been kept for a longer time than usual, or if they are contrary to the RGPD.

The cancellation originates the blocking of the data, and they must only be kept at the disposal of public administrations, courts and tribunals in order to attend to the responsibilities that might have to face. Once the statute of limitations has passed, the data must be deleted.

Finally, any person may also object to the treatment of their personal data, for example, for advertising or commercial prospecting purposes, without the need for this to be cancelled.

What treatment activities does the CSUC carry out?

The CSUC is responsible for the treatment activities that can be found in the detailed description of the Treatment Activities Register (in Catalan).
