CSUC highlights CATNIX at an Equinix Event

CSUC took part on 17 September in the "Desayuno de Negocio" event organized by Equinix, a gathering aimed at professionals and organizations linked to the telecommunications and interconnection sector.

The CSUC’s participation in this session has a special connection with Equinix, as the company hosts one of the four Points of Presence (PoPs) that the Catalonia Neutral Internet Exchange, managed by CSUC, operates across Barcelona and its metropolitan area.

Maria Isabel Gandia, Head of Communications at the Consortium, presented CSUC and its activities, placing particular emphasis on its Communications services and, especially, on the role of CATNIX as a strategic infrastructure for Catalonia’s digital ecosystem. She highlighted CATNIX’s function as a key meeting point for Internet interconnection in Catalonia, where 57 Autonomous Systems from a wide range of organizations are currently connected.

During her presentation, Gandia stressed that CATNIX is Catalonia’s IXP with the highest traffic volume, the largest number of members, and the highest peak traffic. She also recalled its track record since 1999 in fostering connectivity and interconnection throughout the region.

In addition to the technical benefits it provides to connected organizations, CATNIX also facilitates the creation of professional relationships among its members, promoting both technical and human peering, as well as collaboration between organizations.

In this regard, Gandia emphasized the CSUC’s work in strengthening the interconnection community through its collaboration in organizing the ESNOG Forum, whose next edition will take place in Barcelona on 22 and 23 October, its participation in the RIPE Fellowship programme, and its active presence in meetings and initiatives aimed at fostering interconnection and knowledge exchange among industry stakeholders.
