New route-server at CATNIX

CATNIX has set up a new route-server to facilitate new members a quick start when they connect to the internet exchange, added to the possibility of having bidirectional BGP peering sessions. The route-server allows CATNIX members to modify its behaviour via communities. For instance, a member can decide whether it accepts all the routes of the route-server or just a subset.

Traffic between peering members does not cross the route-server, but goes directly from one member to another. Route-servers simplify the configuration of the members who use them.

In addition, the route-server can be used as a backup in case of maintenance or problems with any other BGP session.

The new CATNIX route-server operates on a Bird platform and its Autonomous System is AS60082. In case you would like to use it, you can contact catnix@suport.csuc.cat.
