Among the information this probe allows to obtain, latency, accessibility, capacity to find out the closest DNS root server or RTT (Round-Trip Time) to some fixed destinations, are the most valuable ones. That is, the time a package sent from a senders takes to return to the same sender having gone through the receiver.
The implementation of this probe provides benefits such as data availability and privileged views through continuosly updated maps with the above information. A RIPE Atlas probe is easy to handle and to set up through a USB port and a network port as well.
Apart from this RIPE Atlas probe installed on CATNIX, CSUC has another Atlas probe as well as Anchor probe, both installed at the Anella Científica.
