The objective is to expand the possibilities of connecting to CATNIX to all those companies working on the internet field in Catalonia. This will, in parallel, increase the number of connected entities to this neutral point, as well as the exchanged traffic, with benefits both for business and the Catalan society.
As Miquel Puig, General Director of CSUC, tells, ‘collaboration with bitNAP favors the connection between services and internet providers, something that benefits companies in Catalonia as their information is accessible in a faster way thanks to the local traffic exchange in this Catalan point’.
Manel Berencia, CEO of bitNAP, says that ‘this collaboration agreement brings us closer to the main objective of providing an added value to our housing services, participating actively in the improvement of intercommunications in Catalonia’.
The switch at bitNAP is an Arista 7280SE-68, with a switching capacity of 1.36 Tbps, 48 1 Gbps/10 Gbps ports, expandable to 56, and the ability to connect 100 Gbps ports. This switch has redundant power supplies and high capacity buffers (uldradeep buffers).
From now on, new members who want to connect to CATNIX can use any of the three connection nodes: Campus Nord, Itconic, and the one that CSUC has on its data processing center.
