CATNIX launches new speed test

The new speed test from the Catalonia Neutral Internet Exchange Point (CATNIX) is already available free of charge to measure the internet speed of all users across the country in an easy way. It provides upload and download speeds in megabits per second (Mbps) and latency in milliseconds (ms), as well as information on the provider and a graph showing the evolution of the test.

Both the software version and the server have been updated this time, having more memory, more disk capacity, and more CPU. The new server is a dedicated Dell PowerEdge R440, with 12 cores at 2.7 Ghz, and SSD hard drives.

CATNIX speed test uses the software developed by the USA company Ookla and, as such, this CATNIX test is integrated into Ookla’s network of speed tests.

CATNIX speed tests offers its members independence from the operator that provides the internet connection. It also provides minimal latency thanks to its location at the neutral point.

Entities connected to CATNIX can add an iframe to their pages to include the CATNIX speed test by requesting it via catnix@suport.csuc.cat.
