    Altecom, Internet Service Provider, has upgraded its speed connection to CATNIX switch from 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps, and has moved its connection from Campus Nord to Telvent, the second location of the neutral internet exchange.

    F-root Name Server replica updated

    F-root name server replica, run by the North American Internet Systems Consortium (ISC), has been updated at Catalonia Neutral Internet Exchange Point (CATNIX). Through such updating, the previous pieces of equipment, two Cisco 7304 and two Cisco Catalyst 2950, have been replaced by the two current Cisco 2951.

    Eleventh ESNOG/GORE meeting at CESCA

    Speed test to check the quality of internet connection

    The Catalunya Neutral Internet Exchange Point (CATNIX) offers a free speed test to check the quality of internet connection in an easy way for the users. The tool shows up the upload and download speeds in megabits per second (Mbps) and the latency in milliseconds (ms). Speed connection, though, will depend on factors external to the own connection (such as firewall, spyware, antivirus...), and other components that make up the network.

    The Stratos Skydive on the net

    Felix Baumgartner broke the speed of sound on 14 October 2012 with his 39-kilometre jump to Earth within the Red Bull Stratos project. Baumgartner broke several records that day, not only the speed of the sound one. The live broadcast broke the record for the most watched online video and television event. In Spain about 4.3 million people watched the jump (27.8% of the share) through Teledeporte channel.

    The European Internet Exchange Association —Euro-IX and RIPE Network Coordination Centre (RIPE NCC) have collaborated in order to analyze the Internet traffic during the Olympic Games that took place from 27 July— 12 August in London, as they did with the UEFA European Football Championship some months before.
