History

The Catalunya Neutral Internet Exchange Point (CATNIX), was born in 1999 as a result of the Catalan Information Society Strategic Plan 'Catalunya en Xarxa', a joint initiative of the Catalan Government and Localret.

The agreement for its creation was signed in the April 7th, 1999 as an initiative of the former Catalonia Supercomputing Center (CESCA), and the sponsorship of the formally known as Commissioned for the Information Society.

The founders of CATNIX, besides the ones already mentioned, are the following:
